A fire did extensive damage to a house on Koons Road, Thursday evening.

According to East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, the residential blaze was reported at 8:30 p.m at 3604 Koons Rd. When firefighters arrived heavy smoke was reported coming from the structure. An interior fire attack was made and heavy fire was found in the attic.

No injuries were reported in the incident, officials said.

The interior crews were having difficulty gaining access to the fire, Williams said. Mutual Aid was requested for additional manpower from Catoosa, Rossville, and Fort Oglethorpe. A fill-in assignment was given to Tri Community for one Engine at ERFD Station 1 to answer any other calls for service during the fire.

Hamilton County Rescue was called for rehabilitation. Memorial EMS was also dispatched for medical standby.

“Great job to all that were involved,” Chief Williams said.
