_ 1100 block S. Seminole: At 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, a police officer spotted a man walking on South Seminole carrying a black backpack. According to a police report, the officer was aware of numerous car burglaries throughout the city that happen at night and stopped the man to speak with him. The report states that the man told police he was walking from a friend’s house. The officer offered to give the man a ride since it was cold and raining and the man accepted. The man had no identification but told the officer his name was Michael Jason Tilley and gave his date of birth. When dispatch ran the man’s name, it was determined that Tilley had warrants for drug charges and a DUI through Catoosa County. The report states that when the officer asked Tilley to empty his pockets, the man pulled two 12-gauge shotgun shells from his pocket. When the officer took Tilley to the Hamilton County Jail, he searched the man’s backpack and found a small amount of marijuana and a mason jar that contained residue believed to be methamphetamine. After police administered Miranda warnings, Callahan told officers that the keys to the car were in a bag inside the bedroom that he shared with Gasaway. When the bedroom of the house was searched, police found more than five ounces of marijuana, digital scales, a “drug ledger” and $3,403 in cash.
