Police Briefs for Feb. 17

February 17, 2016 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

full_579_ 3444 Ringgold Rd.: While on patrol early Wednesday morning an officer heard an alarm coming from the Ready, Set, Sew business. According to a police report the officer checked the building and found a gate at the rear of the building that had been damaged. The officer had a dispatcher contact the owner to come to the business and determine if anything was missing. When the owner arrived a few minutes later he told the officer that the damage to the gate was new and that a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban was missing from the secured area. The report states that the owner attempted to access video surveillance but was unable to do so due to a technical issue. The owner told police that he would get the security camera footage to investigators. The report states that when the officer looked more closely at the gate it was determined that the brackets were missing on the the side and it appeared to have been rammed with a vehicle. The owner said the vehicle was valued at about $5,000 and the damage to the gate was about $1,000.

_ 4340 Ringgold Rd.: Police were dispatched to the Food Lion on Tuesday on a theft. According to a police report, officers spoke with an assistant manager of the business who told them that he saw a white male pick up four packs of ribs from the meat market and walk away. The employee continued to watch the man as he walked around the store. The report states that when the employee saw the man toward the front of the store walking toward another employee, the man did not have the ribs in his hands. When the employee tried to talk to the suspect, the report states that the suspect ignored the employee and walked out the front of the store with the ribs down his pants. The suspect got into a dark blue Ford Explorer and drove off southbound down McBrien Road. The employee was able to get a tag number, but when authorities ran the plates they were not on record. Food Lion authorities provided police with video surveillance footage but the suspect could not be identified. Total price of the ribs, $45.
