Police Briefs for May 10

May 10, 2017 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

_ 6728 Ringgold Rd.: Police were called to the address, Tuesday morning, in reference to a burglary. According to a police report, the officer made contact with a man who said that his Heartland Landmark Madison travel trailer had been broken into and burglarized. The man said the incident happened between May 2 and May 7 when his trailer was parked at Camping World after having been serviced there. The victim reported that thieves took a Beretta M9 handgun in a black case, a Ruger LCP .380 handgun in a black case and multiple boxes of ammunition. The report states that the victim also said a flat screen television was stolen from the camper. All told, the value of items taken was about $2,000. The report states there was no forced entry into the camper.

Officials from Camping World told police that after the camper had been serviced it was moved to a camp site on the property. On Sunday an employee noticed that the trailer had been burglarized and called the owner and police. The report states that the owner of the camper believes that Camping World employees failed to secure the trailer after their service was completed, which led to the incident.

_ 4022 Ealy Rd.: On Monday, police were called to the area on a variety of disorder calls in the neighborhoods of Ealy, John Ross, Bennett and Frederick. According to a police report, the calls ranged from “shots fired” to domestic squabbles and general “vague” descriptions of suspects. One call was received about a disorder in front of 4022 Ealy. Police went to the house where they made contact with Alex Smith, 24, a resident of the address. The report states that Smith was intoxicated and said he was tossing his mother’s belongings outside. A short time prior to talking with Smith, police had spoken with a man in reference to a criminal trespass allegedly committed by Smith in the 1000 block of Greenslake Road. When officers asked Smith about his whereabouts, he told them that he had been over on Greenslake Road. The report states that Smith had been to the Greenslake residence three times the day before creating a disturbance, and during the last encounter was advised by police that if he came back he would go to jail. The report states, “knowing that Mr. Smith’s behavior was likely to continue he was placed in custody for Trespassing and taken to HCSO.”

_ 5088 South Terrace: Police were dispatched to the Rave Theater, Tuesday night, on reports of someone randomly breaking out car windows, and in some instances entering them and possibly taking items inside the cars. According to multiple reports, the incidents were reported about 10 p.m. One reporting party said they saw as many as four black males breaking into cars using a “spring operated device.” More than six cars were reported having had windows shattered.

Witnesses told police that they saw the suspects drive off in a gray Honda sedan toward Chattanooga. One report states that similar incidents were reported at theaters in Chattanooga.
