A Record 338 People Hospitalized with COVID

On Thursday, yet another new record for patients hospitalized in Hamilton County suffering from COVID  was set. 

According to the Hamilton County Health Department, on Sept. 2, there were 338 people hospitalized, surpassing the previous day’s mark of 321. Seventy-seven people were in area hospital Intensive Care Units, a jump of 10 over Wednesday.

On Thursday, 235 new cases of COVID were reported, statistics showed. The total number of people who have contracted the virus since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 55,275. Four more deaths were reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of people who have died to 561.

There have been 3,283 cases reported in East Ridge since the beginning of the pandemic. The current number of cases stood at 193. However, that number has not been updated by the health department this week.
