It is with profound sadness that the City of East Ridge announces the death of City Councilman Jacky Cagle, who passed away Sunday.

Cagle dedicated nearly half a century to serving the people of East Ridge.  He began his career with the City in 1976 and served in various roles as an employee until his retirement in 2010.  His public service continued with his election to the East Ridge City Council, where he represented East Ridge from 2014 through his passing yesterday.

“We are overwhelmed by the loss of Council Member Jacky Cagle,” said Mayor Brian Williams.  “For the past 10 years, I had the privilege of serving alongside Jacky.  Over those years, he became more than a fellow Council Member and colleague.  He was a friend and someone who truly cared about East Ridge and the people who call our community home.

“During our years serving together, we shared countless meetings, conversations, decisions, challenges, successes, and many memorable moments along the way.  When you serve alongside someone for that many years, you get to know the person behind the title, and I will always be grateful for the friendship Jacky and I shared.

“East Ridge has lost a dedicated public servant, and I have lost a longtime colleague and friend.  His presence will certainly be missed at City Hall and throughout our community.

“Please keep Donna and the entire Cagle family close in your hearts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. May they find strength and comfort in knowing how much Jacky meant to so many people and how deeply he will be missed.”

Funeral and memorial arrangements are currently pending. Additional information will be released once arrangements have been finalized and made publicly available by the family.
