The Tennessee Auctioneers Association, at its yearly convention in Murfreesboro, named Marc Gravitt as the newest member to the Tennessee Auctioneers Hall of Fame.
Vice President Bobby Colson from Nashville presented the award to Representative Gravitt saying, “this award is presented to a man that has dedicated his life to service, both in his professional career and in his public service career”.
Rep. Gravitt served 6 years in the U.S. Army, afterward he began his professional career in the family business as an auctioneer and real estate broker. In 1996 he graduated from the Certified Auctioneers Institute held at Indiana University. Additionally, he has received the Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate and Graduate Personal Property Appraiser from the National Auctioneer Association.

“I nominated Rep. Gravitt because he has not only shown leadership and professionalism in our industry, but also Rep. Gravitt has dedicated his life of giving back to his community. V.P. Colson went on to say, “he served in the U.S. Army, served as President of (2) 501c6 and (1) 501c3 non-profit organizations, has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for area non-profits, as well as having served as an elected official. “Tonight, we honor a man that has served our country, our state and our profession honorably”.
In 2012, Rep. Gravitt was elected to the East Ridge City Council, serving as Vice Mayor the last two years of term, during which the East Ridge has seen vast improvements. In 2014 Rep. Gravitt was appointed by the Hamilton County Commission to the 108th General Assembly as State Representative for the 30th District which is the south-east parts of Hamilton County. He has subsequently been re-elected to the 109th and 110th General Assembly. During Rep. Gravitt’s first term, he was awarded the “Legislator of the Year” award from the Tennessee Assessors Association.
Rep. Gravitt becomes only the second person from the Chattanooga area to receive this honor. The first was his father, Ken Gravitt, inducted in 2008, who first entered the real estate and auction professions in 1972.
