Esther Helton, running for District 30 Tennessee House of Representatives, raised over $41,000 since announcing her candidacy in September.
According to a press release, Helton announced Monday that she has raised $41,614 since launching her campaign in September 2017.
“I am so very honored by all of the support to my campaign, both financially and through grassroots efforts,” noted Helton, currently serving as a Council Member of East Ridge. “My voting record matches my continued commitment to grow our communities without growing government, and I believe this message is being well-received and approved by voters and supporters.”
The end of year report for state candidates, which ended on January 15, includes 118 donors supporting Helton, who was certified for the GOP ballot by the Hamilton County Election Commission on January 9, 2018 with the average contribution of $353. Click here for full list of donors.
“Esther has earned the early support of local voters in the district as well as business leaders throughout the area who have watched the transformation of Exit 1 in East Ridge where new businesses are locating to and creating new jobs – both of which help maintain lower property taxes,” commented Zach Hutcherson, the campaign committee’s treasurer.
Helton’s tenure on the East Ridge City Council has reflected the pro-business, smart growth, balanced budget platform on which she campaigned on during her East Ridge City Council race and continues to advocate while serving her constituents today. This approach resulted in a fiscally sound budget that prevented a property tax increase for the second largest municipality in Hamilton County behind the city of Chattanooga.
“Working as a bedside nurse for almost 36 years has been the foundation of my desire to help and serve others. My approach is to listen to my neighbors and work to solve problems,” commented Helton. “Hard work, commonsense and respect of our greatest treasure in Tennessee, our citizens, will be the ingredients of my campaign to serve in Nashville.”
Esther Helton is an active member of Graceworks Church, the East Ridge Optimist Club and East Ridge Alumni Association. Helton has also been elected as a local Republican Party delegate since 2011 and is a member of the Hamilton County Pachyderm Club.
She has three grown children, Lee Helton, Lisa Golden and Kip Helton along with five grandchildren.The Republican Party primary for the state legislative seat is scheduled for Thursday, August 2.
Helton is facing off against Jonathan Mason in the Republican primary set for Aug. 2. Joda Thongnopnua has qualified to run in the Democratic Primary for District 30.
