Law and Order Jan. 12

The following information is courtesy of the East Ridge Police Department.

Day Shift January 9: A Squad

26-000277 – 1500 BLK McDonald Road – Suspicious Person – Police were informed of a homeless male sleeping in the parking lot and were requested by the manager to trespass the subject. The subject was identified and informed that he was trespassed from the property. He left the area without future incident.

26-000279-1300 BLK Adonna Lane – Suspicious Activity – Police contacted a reporting party by phone regarding suspicious activity. She reported starting a “job” on 12/21, where she was instructed to receive packages, inspect them, and forward them to other destinations. She received a package containing $3,457 worth of gold and was told to repackage and ship it to an address in Woodburn, Kentucky, using a provided shipping label created on 10/08/2025 that listed her as the sender. She felt the situation was suspicious and requested a police report. It should be noted that this is called a repackaging scam where unknowing parties are used as cutouts to move goods gained by illicit means, as well as utilizing fraudulent means to pay “employees.”

Night Shift January 9: C Squad

26-000294 – 700 BLK Germantown Circle – Child Found – A resident reported a young child was found screaming in the breezeway of an apartment building. Police officers responded to the location and found the child’s mother frantically looking for him. The mother stated her child had wandered away from their home. Officers located the child and reunited him with his mother.

26-000306 – 3300 BLK Ringgold Road – Suspicious Activity – A patron at the laundry reported seeing an unconscious male inside the building. Police responded to the location and found the man was sleeping in a chair. ERPD identified the man as and determined he was previously trespassed from all the business’ locations. He was arrested for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Hamilton County Jail without incident.

26-000310 – 1000 BLK Hibbler Circle – Assist the Fire Department – Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the report of smoke coming from a residence. On scene, First responders determined there was no fire in the residence. A hot water pipe had burst, producing a tremendous amount of steam in the home. Firefighters alleviated the issue by turning off the hot water line.

Day Shift January 10: A Squad

26-000323 – 3900 BLK Ringgold Road – Prescription Drug Fraud – Officers responded to this location on reports that a female was attempting to pass fraudulent prescriptions. Officers ultimately arrested her on a charge of Prescription Drug Fraud, but later discovered twelve additional fraudulent prescriptions in her purse. Following further investigation, it was determined the female was from the Atlanta area and had come to the Chattanooga area with a male party to pass multiple fraudulent prescriptions. The female was being compensated for her part in the fraud conspiracy and was additionally charged with Conspiracy to Commit Prescription Drug Fraud. The case is being investigated further with assistance from CID and Crime Suppression to identify the co-conspirator.

Night Shift January 10: C Squad

26-000335 – 100 BLK Kingwood Drive – Disorder / Theft – The caller reported a disorder in her home involving a guest. Police responded to the scene and determined that the guest was intoxicated, possibly on prescription medications. The resident also reported that the guest took $20 from her wallet, and that she found several items of her jewelry in the suspect’s sweatshirt. The caller did not wish to pursue charges for the thefts but requested the party to be trespassed from the residence. EMS responded to the scene and transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and medical treatment.

26-000343 – 1500 BLK Karwill Lane – Unknown Trouble / Search Warrant – Police responded to the report of possible disorder inside this residence. Officers heard multiple individuals run out the back of the apartment. Police eventually located a male and a female that fled the residence and identified them. A third person was identified, but he was not located by police. Inside the residence, officers located a man and determined he was highly intoxicated and had several injuries from an unknown source. EMS responded to the scene and transported him to a hospital for medical treatment. ERPD secured a search warrant for the residence based on drug paraphernalia observed in plain view. Inside the residence, police located 22.3g of suspected marijuana that was packaged for resale, two pills of suspected Xanax, multiple broken and crushed pills, scales with drug residue, and pipes with drug residue. Police determined that a party was the primary resident of the apartment and arrest warrants are pending against him for the charges of Possession with Intent for Resale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

26-000348 – 1500 BLK Prigmore Road – Assist Other Agency – While searching the area, Police located a man hiding in a trash can. He had fled from a residence on Karwill Lane while officers were investigating a possible disorder. While detained, officers determined that he had a Probation Violation Warrant through Hamilton County. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail without further incident.

26-000337 – 5500 BLK Ringgold Road – Theft – The manager for the modular home dealer reported a theft occurred on January 2 at the business. The manager stated the incident was caught on a security video and the male suspect stripped copper wiring from multiple mobile homes. Police will attempt to identify the suspect and seek arrest warrants.

Day Shift January 11: A Squad

26-000354 – 3700 BLK Mary Anna Drive – Burglary In Progress – Police responded after receiving a 911 text from a resident stating she thinks someone is in her house. Upon arrival police spoke with the RP, who said she saw a skinny person wearing all black open her bedroom door slightly before retreating from the threshold. Police checked the residence and did not find any unwanted guests or intruders. All the people in the residence were asleep during the alleged incident.

26-000367 – 1300 BLK West End Avenue – Domestic Assault – A woman was arrested for Domestic Assault after she intentionally slammed her boyfriend’s hand in the door during an argument. She refused to cooperate with officers during her arrest and screamed several expletives outside of her residence. Subsequently, she garnered two additional charges of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.

26-000360 – 1500 BLK Burns Avenue – Back up EMS – Police responded to the above address in reference to a possible airway obstruction. Upon arrival, the child was breathing adequately and appeared to be postictal. The child was transported by EMS to the hospital.

Night Shift January 11: C Squad

26-000343 – 1500 BLK Karwill Lane– Follow-up Investigation – Patrol Officers and a member of the Crime Suppression Unit conducted a follow-up investigation for the drug related incident that occurred on January 10. During the investigation, additional evidence was obtained that led to multiple arrest warrants for three parties. The charges included Possession with Intent for Resale, Simple Possession of Illegal Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Police Officers checked known addresses for the individuals, but they were not found.

26-000383 – 941 Spring Creek Road – Disorder – An off-duty Police Officer requested assistance with a disorderly patient in the Parkridge East Hospital Emergency Room. Police Officers responded to the scene and assisted the medical staff in de-escalating the situation. The hospital staff and the patient were able to work out their differences and continue the patient’s medical care.
