Massengale: ‘Something Good Happening in Our Town’

February 23, 2018 By Dick Cook and Contributed Article Leave a Comment

I’ve been looking at statistics for housing in East Ridge, and they are impressive. But, I’m not going to quote stats… I want to share my heartfelt expectations with you.

As a realtor _ I’m a Buyer’s Specialist with the Charlotte Mabry Team, Keller Williams Downtown _ I am constantly looking in MLS and searching other sources for available homes. I’ve had decent success helping buyers FIND the right home. I deal with prospective home owners from all walks of life and with varying degrees of knowledge about the Metro Chattanooga Area.

One question I get from people who are moving into the area (for as many reasons as there are people!) is, “What are the best areas?”  Well, as a real estate professional, it’s not my place to make that judgment call, but it IS my duty to tell my clients as much as I can about trends in the area. It’s not for me to guide my clients (or ‘customers’, until they become clients) toward any specific area. So, even though I  LIVE in East Ridge, I cannot favor this area over any other.

So, when asked that question, I can share what I see regarding homes, community, family life, restaurants, etc. As I drive up Ringgold Road from the south end of East Ridge toward Missionary Ridge, the obvious “new build outs” in businesses are remarkable. Both sides of Exit 1 show the signs of growth. New buildings, new faces on old buildings, and brand new business entities make a casual observer realize that something good is happening in our town!

The homes that are being updated throughout East Ridge (by the homeowners who’ve lived here for many years AND by those to whom we commonly refer as “flippers”) is further evidence that there’s an upswing in our neighborhoods. It’s great for me (as a homeowner AND a realtor!) to be able to point these changes out to prospective home buyers.

Take pride in what’s going on here, citizens of East Ridge!
