Notre Dame Spoils East Ridge Homecoming

October 1, 2016 By Dick Cook Leave a Comment

Notre Dame ruined the East Ridge Homecoming whipping the Pioneers, 50-26, Friday at Raymond James Stadium/Earl Shanks Field.

The Irish’s talented quarterback, Cameron Wynn, shredded the East Ridge defense for 160 yards and three touchdowns running and accounted for 110 yards through the air, including a 66-yard scoring bomb.

The loss dropped East Ridge to 3-4 on the season, 1-2 in Region 3/3A. The Pioneers will play their final home game of the season on Oct. 14 as region foe Howard comes calling.

Notre Dame ran up a 22-0 lead after the first quarter but East Ridge came roaring back behind its own running game of Traneil Moore and Lorenzo Stewart, cutting the Irish lead to 29-19 early in the third quarter.

Moore rushed 14 times for 110 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown. Stewart scored three times and rushed for 53 yards on the game.

East Ridge got a boost from its defense, as Alonzo Russell and Jawuan Simmons each recorded interceptions.

During the halftime festivities, Kendall Record was crowned Homecoming Queen for 2016, and the band paid tribute to its longtime Director Perry Vandergriff, who recently passed away.
