Police Briefs for Aug. 3

The following information was compiled from “pass along” reports provided by the administration of the East Ridge Police Department.

August 1 Day Shift

6116 Ringgold Rd (Arrest 22-010804):

Betty Reed was taken into custody for public intoxication after police were dispatched on a check well-being call. 

2100 block McBrien Road (Theft 22-010818):

Police responded to this location in reference to a check stolen from the mailbox on approximately July 3, 2022. The check was cashed at an unknown location for approximately $14,500. Police have no suspects at this time. Report on file.

4101 Ringgold Rd. the lot on Paniagua Automotive (22-010809): 

Two vehicles were purchased with a stolen credit card and a counterfeit Ga DL.

211 Eads Street (Theft 22-010815)  

The complainant stated he was expecting an Amazon order (Apple watch and a battery pack worth more than $400) to be delivered, by USPS, on 07/26/2022, but the package never arrived, although USPS states the package(s) have been delivered.

639 Camp Jordan Pkwy (Arrest 22-010811):

Police took Mariangelis Deleon into custody at this location after an assault in progress was called in. Police found she had stabbed and cut the victim multiple times.

Night Shift

822 Belvoir Avenue / Arrest-Drugs: 

Karen Skillern Copeland was arrested for Possession of a Marijuana for Resale and Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance following a traffic stop.  22-010826

Interstate75 / Felony Evading: 

Police attempted to make a traffic stop on a GMC Yukon after the vehicle was observed to have a license plate displayed for a Hyundai Sonata. After initially stopping, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed on Interstate 75 Northbound into Chattanooga. Police terminated as per department policy and allowed the vehicle to safely flee. The driver was observed to be a young male with a short haircut and the passenger was observed to be a female with longer straight hair.

5080 S Terrace / Suspicious Activity: 

Police were called to the AMC Movie Theater after employees observed a female party sleeping on the roof. Police made contact with a homeless woman. Police escorted the woman from the property and issued her a trespass warning.

6514 Ringgold Road / Fraud: 

Mapco employees called in reference to a female attempting to purchase items with fake money. On scene police were advised the female fled prior to police arrival. One of the employees attempted to follow the female suspect but lost sight of the suspect around Marietta Street. Police checked the area but did not locate the female suspect. The fake money was turned over to officers. Employees were not able to access the camera footage at the time. The female was observed to be an approximately 5’3, petite female with purple hair.
