According to a press release by CPD, on Sunday evening Chattanooga Police were on the scene of a SWAT standoff on East 28th Street. Police said they were assisting East Ridge Police, who tried to serve a search warrant but instead, the suspect barricaded himself inside the house.
Chattanooga Police took Paul Tracy Bailes, a 42 year old white male, into custody on E. 28th St. Mr. Bailes had outstanding East Ridge warrants for Aggravated Robbery and Theft from the incident at the Crown Inn in East Ridge on Sunday. Bond is set at $202,500 with a court date of Oct. 6, officials said.
A little after 9 a.m. on Sunday, East Ridge Police were responding to 6642 Ringgold Rd., the Crown Inn, on a report of shots fired and a large amount of blood in a room. As police arrived on the scene, Parkridge East Hospital called to report that a white male had arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the right calf.
The victim reported that he met an acquaintance who invited him to her room. After entering the room, an unknown white male and black male produced handguns and demanded money. The white male suspect fired a round striking the victim in the calf. The victim produced a knife and stabbed the white suspect several times in the chest. The victim then fled the room in route to the hospital. When police arrived at the motel, no suspects were on the scene. Police are still investigating.
