TAWC Conducting Annual Flushing Program

October 11, 2019 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

Tennessee American Water has begun its annual flushing of water mains and hydrants throughout its water system serving Chattanooga, East Ridge, Red Bank, Lookout Mountain, GA and TN, and Rossville, GA.

Tennessee American Water conducts an annual flushing program of its water distribution system to help ensure continued high-quality water service. Flushing the water system entails sending a rapid flow of water through the water mains. As part of the flushing program, fire hydrants are checked and operated to help ensure fire protection in the community.

Flushing will take place during the weekday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through the month of October.

“Annual flushing is vital to our community and Tennessee American Water’s daily operations.

This is an opportune time to perform routine maintenance on our hydrants and ensure they are working properly,” stated Leah Morrison, Tennessee American Water Manager of Operations.

While the flushing program is underway, customers may experience a brief drop in water pressure or discoloration of their water for a short period of time. If this occurs, customers should run theircold water for a few moments until it runs clear. Using more than one faucet or an outside spigot allows the water to clear faster.
