10 to be Inducted into East Ridge High School Athletic Hall of Fame

East Ridge High School will honor 10 new inductees into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame this Friday, September 26, 2025.  The 2025 inductees will form East Ridge’s 10th class inducted into the Hall of Fame.  Recognition of the recipients will occur at halftime of the Pioneers’ football (4-1 Win-Loss record) contest against Loudon High School. 

The inductees are:

  •  Brandon Barnes – Class of 2003 – Football, Track, Baseball 

  • Football All-State; Football All-Region; Times Free Press “Best of Preps” Football squad; “Stump on Sports – ‘Hog of the Year’”; Scholarship Football player at both ETSU and Tennessee Tech; Tennessee Tech Football Team Captain 2006 and 2007 seasons; TN Tech 2007 “Sonny Allen Leadership Award”; Coached Football at Tennessee Tech for 4 seasons. 

  •  Steve Bates – Class of 1972 – Football, Track, Wrestling, Team Handball 

  • Twice named All-State in Football; Twice named “All-City” in Football; Featured in Letterman Magazine as a “Top 20 College Football Prospect” nationally; Named an Associated Press “High School Football All-American”; Named ERHS’ “Most Valuable Back” and “Most Improved Back”; Member of East Ridge National Championship Team Handball squad; Scholarship Football player at Tennessee Tech, but had a career-ending injury after 1 season. 

  •  Christina Haskew Broome – Class of 2005 – Softball, Volleyball 

  • Softball All-State; Softball All-District; Times Free Press “Best of Preps” Softball squad; Volleyball All-State; Volleyball All-Region; Volleyball All-District; Times Free Press “Best of Preps” Volleyball squad; Softball Scholarship to Chattanooga State; “Eye of the Tiger” Award at Chattanooga State; All-Academic Award at Chattanooga State (4.0 GPA). 

  •  Ernie Brown – Class of 1966 – Wrestling, Football, Track 

  • TSSAA State Champion Wrestler; Named “Rye Bell” Award winner for Wrestling; Football Co-Captain; FCA “Christian Athlete of the Year”; Named “Most Desire” for ERHS Football; Coached Football and Wrestling for 2 years at ERHS. 

  •  Karen Tate Fauer – Class of 1985 – Volleyball, Softball, Basketball 

  • 3 Sport Standout at ERHS; Scholarship Volleyball Athlete at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga; 1989 UTC Volleyball Team Captain; 1989 All-Tournament for the Southern Conference; Broke UTC’s Single Season Record for Volleyball Assists; Member of the 1987 Southern Conference Volleyball Champions.

            Andy Jenkins – Class of 1984 – Wrestling, Football
 
  • 2 Time TSSAA Wrestling State Runner-Up; 2 Time Recipient of TSSAA State Wrestling Tournament “Best Match” Award; 3 Time Region Wrestling Champion; 3 Time District Wrestling Champion; Champion of the McCallie, Father Ryan, Rossville, and Carter Invitational Wrestling Tournaments; 2 Time Outstanding Wrestler for Region Tournament; 2 Time Outstanding Wrestler for Father Ryan Invitational; School Record Holder for Most Wins and Team Points Scored in a Season; Named All-City Offense in Football; Named All-County Defense in Football; Named ERHS “Athlete of the Year”; Recipient of Chattanooga Quarterback Club’s Scrappy Moore Scholar Athlete award; Named Armed Forces True Competitor award winner; Wrestling Scholarship to University of Tennessee (Knoxville). 

  •  Jason Maples – Class of 1991 – Basketball, Football, Baseball, Soccer 

  • East Ridge High Basketball All-Time Scoring Leader (1690 points scored); 3 Time Basketball All-District; 2 Time Basketball 1st Team “All City”; Honorable Mention 1991 All-State; Single Game Basketball Scoring Record (50 points) 1991; 350 Career 3 Point Shots Made; Played on “All-Chattanooga” Team in Boston Shootout (Basketball) ; 3 Time 4 Sport Letter Winner; Hit a Home Run and Scored a Goal on the same day while playing Baseball and Soccer simultaneously in 1990; East Ridge High All-Time Leader in Football Field Goals Made; Played Collegiate Basketball at Chattanooga State and Southwest Louisiana Rajun Cajuns; Member of the 1993 Regular Season Conference Basketball Champions for Chattanooga State; Member of the 1994 Sun Belt Conference Basketball Tournament Champions and NCAA Tournament Participants for Southwest Louisiana. 

  •  Norma Nelson – Class of 1982 – Softball, Volleyball, Basketball 

  • East Ridge Softball 1982 Highest Batting Average; Scholarship Softball Athlete at Cleveland State Community College; Member of Junior College Softball World Series Runner-Up Team at Cleveland State; Inducted into Cleveland State’s Hall of Fame; Basketball Manager for University of Tennessee – Chattanooga; Long-time High School Softball Coach at Ooltewah High, Gordon Lee High, and East Hamilton High; Has 902 Career Wins as a High School Head Softball Coach; Inducted into the Tennessee Chapter of the USA Softball Hall of Fame; Received 2023 TSSAA A.F. Bridges Sportsmanship Award; Led Ooltewah High to the 2008 Softball State Championship; Was Assistant Coach for 6 High School State Championship Teams at Ooltewah and Gordon Lee. 

  •  Ryan Rivers – Class of 1997 – Football, Track 

  • 2 Time All-State Football; 2 Time “All-City” Football; 1997 Times Free Press All-Region Football; 1996 TSSAA State Track 100 Meter Dash Runner-Up; 1996 All-State Track; 1997 “All City” Track for “Top 10 Sprinters”; Scholarship Football Athlete at University of West Alabama; Gulf South Conference Player of the Week in 2000 vs. Delta State; Played Arena Football for Tennessee Riversharks and Birmingham Steeldogs in 2001-2002. 

  • Lon Warr – Class of 1990 – Football 

  • First-Ever East Ridge 4 Year Letterman in Football; 1989 All-State; 2 Time 1st Team “All County”; Named 2nd Team “All County” as a Sophomore; Named the #1 Rated Lineman and #24 Overall Prospect in the state of Tennessee in 1989; Received a Full Athletic Scholarship to play Football at Western Kentucky University.
