Council to Have Special Called Meeting on Friday

November 28, 2018 By Dick Cook Leave a Comment

The East Ridge City Council will have a special called meeting on Friday, November 30 at 8;30 a.m.

According to a posting on the city’s Website, the council will discuss/act on a resolution for appointments to the city’s personnel board and to amend a resolution dealing with a use agreement with Chick-fil-A restaurant in Jordan Crossing.

In March 2018, the city council approved by resolution an agreement between the city and Exit 1 LLC granting almost a dozen additional parking spaces for Chick-fil-A restaurant inside Jordan Crossing.

The city’s personnel board was established in July 2010, according to a review of the East Ridge City Code. The board is comprised of five members which are appointed by city council on an annual basis.

The personnel board will hear all personnel grievances. According to city code, it “will meet at such times as it is required.” The board is an advisory board and does not have the power to overturn the termination of an employee by the city manager.

According to Frances Pope, who was appointed to the board in 2014, it has never met.

The meeting will be held at City Hall on Tombras Avenue and the public is invited to attend.
