ERHS Soccer Team Advances in District Tournament

The East Ridge High boys’ soccer team advanced to the finals of the District 8/AA soccer tournament squeaking by Red Bank in a penalty kick shoot-out.

With the game tied 1-1 after regulation play, the Pioneers won on the shoot-out, 4-3.

East Ridge got its goal courtesy of Zhubin Salih. Peter Vicente was credited with the assist. Goalkeeper Tranquillino Calel Tzun had five saves and two key penalty kick saves at the end of the game, said coach Jeremy McIntyre.

The Pioneers will now play Howard in the district tournament finals on Thursday at the UTC intramural fields. Game time is 6 p.m.

The winner of the District 8/AA Tournament will play the runner-up of the District 7/AA Tournament next Tuesday in the Region semifinals. The loser of the District 8/AA Tournament will play the champion of District 7/AA.

When Chattanooga's two paper's merged, he became the Crime Reporter covering both the Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
