June 2 Police Briefs

The following information was compiled from ERPD “pass along” reports provided by the administration.

June 1 Day Shift

3209 Ringgold Road (burglary):

The complainant reported an unknown suspect forced entry into the rear door of Tom’s Carpet and stole approximately $150 petty cash from the register. No suspects at this time.

3715 Ringgold Road (shoplifter):

Charles Mackey was issued a misdemeanor citation and was criminally trespassed from Food City after he was observed by loss prevention shoving a pack of ribeye steaks down his pants and attempting to leave without paying.

4152 Ringgold Road (auto theft recovery):

A stolen 2000 Ford Ranger was recovered in the parking lot of Bojangle’s after the manager reported it had been there for several days. The vehicle was towed to Broome’s since police were unable to make contact with the owner.

1200 John Ross Road (abandoned auto):

An unattended vehicle, parked in a traffic lane at this location, was towed by East Ridge Auto Electric.

Night Shift

4400 Ringgold Rd. (AOA):

Deshondre Kendrick was transported to the Hamilton County Jail for warrants out of the county following a traffic stop at this location.

6514 Ringgold Rd (arrest):

Joshua Norris arrested at this location following a traffic stop for failure to identify and resisting arrest.

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. Dick worked for the Chattanooga Free-Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press for 22 years. Free-Press Sports Editor Roy Exum plucked him out of production in 1989 and gave him a job as a sports reporter. Dick covered everything from prep sports to the whitewater events on the Ocoee River for the 1996 Olympics. When Chattanooga's two paper's merged, he became the Crime Reporter covering both the Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
