Law and Order August 12

The following information is courtesy of the East Ridge Police Department.

Day Shift August 8: A Squad

25-008372 – 800 BLK S. Moore Road – Traffic Stop/Pursuit – Police observed a vehicle speeding and driving erratically westbound on Ringgold Road at approximately 65 mph. After making a U-turn and initiating a traffic stop, the driver failed to comply with instructions and continued driving, eventually running a red light at South Terrace. A pursuit ensued through several streets, including Brainerd Road and Old Mission Road. Despite the pursuit being terminated by the Sergeant due to public safety concerns, the suspect became trapped between civilian vehicles and a patrol car. Officers conducted a felony takedown, and the erratic driver was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with Felony Evading and Reckless Endangerment before transport to the Hamilton County Jail.

Night Shift August 8: C Squad

25-008374 – 6500 BLK Ringgold Road – Suspicious Activity / Assist Other Agency – Police responded to an unconscious person complaint at the gas station. Officers located a woman sleeping in her vehicle. She was found to have an active arrest warrant through the City of Soddy Daisy. The woman was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail without incident.

25-008384 – 4214 Ringgold Road – Suspicious Activity – Police met with two juveniles who stated they were being tracked with an air tag. The juveniles handed over a small electric module which appeared to be a tracking device. The reporting parties did not know who put the tracker on their vehicle. The device was placed in the EPRD Evidence Room for further investigation.

25-008385 – 3600 BLK Ringgold Road – Suspicious Activity – A reporting party stated a male approached her car and asked her to play a game. The male suspect was dressed as a medical professional and had a stethoscope and a blood pressure cuff. The reporting party refused to play the game and the suspect left in a black Jeep style vehicle. Police responded to the area but did not locate the suspect.

25-008390 – 6700 BLK Ringgold Road – Suspicious Activity / Driving Under the Influence – Police located an occupied vehicle sitting in the middle of the roadway. Police determined the driver was under the influence of an intoxicating substance. Due to his uncontrollable erratic behavior, he was transported to a local hospital for medical care. Arrest warrants are pending for the charge of Driving Under the Influence.

25-008398 – 601 Justice Way – Warrant Service – While in custody at the Hamilton County Jail, a woman was served with five Forfeiture Capias warrants through the City of East Ridge. The original charges for the arrest warrants were Identity Theft, Criminal Impersonation, False Identification, Criminal Simulation, and Theft of Services.

Day Shift August 9: A Squad – 25-008405 – 1100 BLK Altamaha Street – Disorder – Two neighbors engaged in a disorder over mowed grass blowing into the other’s yard. Both parties were advised to stay on their side of the property line and separate for the day.

300 BLK Camp Jordan Parkway – Animal Call – Police observed a large bird in the middle of Camp Jordan Parkway that appeared to be injured. Police attempted to contact multiple agencies to pick up the bird with no luck. Officers were able to apprehend the bird and transport it to the Chattanooga Zoo for care. The animal was identified as a dehydrated fledgling Osprey.

Night Shift August 9: C Squad

25-008425 – 500 BLK Wando Drive – Suspicious Activity – A resident reported a loud banging noise near her home and described it as someone hitting a truck. Police checked the area but did not locate anything suspicious. While on scene, officers observed several loud noises from the adjoining roadways and Interstate 24, possibly connected to construction that had been ongoing for several years.

25-008430 – 1000 BLK Spring Creek Road – Suspicious Activity / Arrest – Police observed an improperly parked vehicle sitting off the roadway. The officer approached the vehicle and found a party sitting in the driver’s seat. Upon further investigation, the driver was determined to be highly intoxicated and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Day Shift August 10: A Squad

25-008435 – 6200 BLK Ringgold Road – Backup EMS – Officers tended to an elderly woman who was experiencing the side effects of THC until EMS arrived on scene.

Night Shift August 10: C Squad

25-008444 – 5600 BLK Ringgold Road – Shots Fired / Arrest – Police responded to the report of shots fired in the parking lot of the restaurant. Officers determined that a disorder started in the restaurant involving several adult and juvenile customers. The disorder continued into the parking lot where a man pointed a handgun at another party and two teenagers. The suspect then fired one shot in the air before departing the area. Police utilized LPR data and a video to identify and locate the suspect. Police arrested the suspect and charged him with three counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Reckless Endangerment.

25-008448- 6700 BLK Ringgold Road – Motor Vehicle Crash / Arrest – Police responded to the report of a vehicle crashing into the convenience store. Officers spoke with the driver and determined he was under the influence of alcohol. A passenger in the vehicle fled the scene but was later identified. Police located the passenger in a nearby parking lot and quickly determined that he was also intoxicated. The driver was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence. The passenger was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.

25-008464 – 4214 Ringgold Road – Warrant Service – While in custody at the Hamilton County Jail, a man was served with five arrest warrants through the City of East Ridge. The charges on the warrants were Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Attempted Carjacking, Possession of Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Assault.

Day Shift August 11: B Squad

25-008473 – 3400 BLK Gail Drive – Domestic Disorder – Initially, police responded to a possible burglary-in-progress after the complainant reported her ex-boyfriend came to her residence and attempted to force entry through a garage door. Prior to police arrival, the caller reported the subject left the scene and when officers arrived at the home and spoke with the caller, she reported the man used a garage door opener to gain access to the garage area of the residence and attempted to force entry by hitting the door. Upon a retelling of her statement, she changed her account, stating she opened the garage door which enabled the man entry into the residence. The complainant requested information on how to obtain an order of protection but declined prosecution.

Night Shift August 11: D Squad

25-008502 – 100 BLK Frawley Road – Auto Theft – THP recovered a stolen 1995 Dodge truck following a pursuit on I-24, which terminated on Mountain Creek Road and Creek Drive when the suspect crashed. The driver was transported to a hospital with injuries, and THP is seeking warrants against him for auto theft. East Ridge police informed the victim of the theft and recovery of his truck and advised where to retrieve it.
