Day Shift August 5: B Squad

26-007434 – 3200 BLK Gleason Drive – Domestic Assault – A man was arrested after his girlfriend’s brother reported he tackled him and attempted a rear naked choke like maneuver following an argument over the suspect’s treatment of his sister. The subject was transported to Hamilton County Jail without incident.

26-007449- 5400 BLK Connell Street- Harassment – The resident reported to police that she received several messages from a known female over Facebook Messenger, even after she had advised her to cease all communication and blocked her. (Reference Case #26-005998.) The caller showed the messages she received, corroborating her statement. A warrant for harassment will be sought.

Night Shift August 5: D Squad

26-007463- 900 BLK South Seminole Drive- Fire Alarm – Officers responded to the above address to investigate alarm activation and multiple calls about the smell of smoke. ERPD determined the cause of the alarm activation was an individual grilling hot dogs on their porch.

26-007464- 900 South Seminole Drive- Suspicious Vehicle – ERPD responded to a report of a vehicle circling the apartment complex. The officer stopped the vehicle and discovered he was a DoorDash driver delivering food. The driver was unfamiliar with the layout of the apartment complex. He identified the appropriate apartment and delivered the food.

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. Dick worked for the Chattanooga Free-Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press for 22 years. Free-Press Sports Editor Roy Exum plucked him out of production in 1989 and gave him a job as a sports reporter. Dick covered everything from prep sports to the whitewater events on the Ocoee River for the 1996 Olympics. When Chattanooga's two paper's merged, he became the Crime Reporter covering both the Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
