UPDATE: One Person Killed in Monday Afternoon Traffic Crash

UPDATE: According to a press release from the East Ridge Police Department, On March 18 at approximately 5:45p pm , East Ridge Police responded to a traffic crash on Ringgold Rd at Altamaha St. A Dodge pickup truck was traveling west on Ringgold Road. The truck was occupied by the driver, Jacob Alexander, and his passenger, Michael Alexander.  A Chevrolet Camaro, driven by John Charles Harvley, was traveling north on Altamaha street.  As the truck approached Altamaha, the Camaro entered Ringgold Road in the path of the truck. Although braking aggressively, Alexander was unable to avoid Harvley’s car. The truck collided with the Camaro’s driver’s door.

Initial arriving units attempted life-saving care on Harvley but to no avail. Harvley was pronounced DOA. The Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s office was contacted and responded to the scene. Harvley was then extricated from the automobile and was transported via Hamilton County EMS. Harvley, 12/12/1960, was 58 years old. He resided at 1520 Merrill Street in East Ridge.

It is known that Harvley had extensive medical issues and at this time, it is not known if they were a factor in the incident. The investigation continues.

Police confirm one person has been killed in a crash in East Ridge Monday evening.

It happened at the intersection of Altamaha Street and Ringgold Road around 5:45 p.m.

Police Chief Stan Allen confirmed with NewsChannel9 that one person was killed in the two-car crash. Another person was taken to the hospital in a private car.

The crash is under investigation, officials said.
