East Ridge police are investigating the burning death of a man on Wednesday evening.
According to Fire Chief Mike Williams, firefighters from Station No. 2 were returning from a call at 7 p.m. when they saw heavy black smoke a few houses down from the fire station on St. Thomas Street. Upon investigation of the smoke, firefighters found a man on fire in the driveway of the house at 1371 St. Thomas St.. The fire crew immediately called for an ambulance as they extinguished the flames from the individual.
Chief Williams said that medical care was immediately given to the individual but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
East Ridge Police Chief J.R. Reed identified the victim as 56-year-old Senad Kadic. Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death are still under investigation.
