Red Wolves Down Greenville, 3-1

September 7, 2026 By Contributed Article Leave a Comment

The Chattanooga Red Wolves routed the Greenville Triumph, 3-1, in USL League One action Saturday at CHI Memoria Stadium.

Greenville was calculated and quick, but all of regular time proved a shutout for them. Ramos and Adewole were stellar in defense, giving Jerez little to do in the first half.

In the 30th, Ramos intercepted a pass from the visitors to feed it toward Knapp. Knapp flicked it goalward and the shot, albeit awkwardly deflected off a desperate dive from Greenville’s Zane Bubb, sank right into the goal.

The lead doubled just before halftime with a chain of perfect passes: Yanis and Ramos pulled off incredible step-overs to outmaneuver their opponents, and when the latter sent the ball to Omar Hernandez, he responded with a single controlling touch to Pedro, who fired hard into the back of the net.

Leading 2-0 out of halftime, the Wolves subbed Knapp out for Vaughn and kept pressing. Greenville made three substitutions in the first twenty minutes of the second half, and while they were able to make a shot on goal, Jerez was swift in catching it.

Tension crowded the stadium as the time ticked away. The Den knew there was at least one more goal waiting to be scored, and in the 85th, the wish was granted.

Following a wild breakaway by new signing Brandon McManus that nearly earned another point, Greenville’s Rodrigo Robles lost his cool and yanked Ayimbila’s leg out from under him to stop the play. He received a card for his lack of control, and the resulting free kick found the eager Adewole, who lasered the ball through to turn the score up 3-0.

Greenville would nab a lucky goal in second-half stoppage time, courtesy of their Brigham Larsen, but the night had already been claimed. The whistle sounded shortly after, bringing a close to the Wolves’ six-point week.

Next Saturday, the Wolves will be storming City Stadium to take on the Richmond Kickers. Be sure to catch the match on ESPN+.
