On Thursday evening at 7:57 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a single vehicle crash in the 300 block of Spring Road. The collision resulted in the fatality of the 60-year-old female passenger.

The Chattanooga Police Department Traffic Unit conducted the investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates that the Dodge Caravan was traveling north in the 300 block of Spring Creek Rd at a high rate of speed when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered off the road striking a tree. Both, the driver and passenger, had to be extricated from the vehicle. The 53-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by Hamilton County EMS. 

The investigation is ongoing.
